With each of our showrooms comes the opportunity to test ride an Ampler. Although riding one of our lightweight e-bikes is a treat on its own, you can make the trip even better by checking out our recommended places to see. Luckily for our Berlin test riders, the Showroom is surrounded by renowned historic landmarks as well as interesting routes and parks.
Come see what we have to offer and get the absolute most from the experience. We’re on Yorckstraße with access to Kreuzberg, Schöneberg, and Mitte, to name a few. You have 30 minutes to test ride an Ampler and it should be a half hour of pure enjoyment. Therefore, we’ve picked some of our favourite locations around the showroom that you can comfortably make it to and back within that time.
Urban Nation
Distance: 2.1 Km
Riding time there: 8 min
Suggested Ampler: Juna
Berlin is famous for its street art and visitors can find complex and detailed pieces all over the city. Cycle by our friends at Urban Nation, Berlin’s street art museum, where you can find an abundance of this particular medium all in one place. Located on the vibrant Bülowstraße, it’s a fun route through a lively district that will give you a sense of how much better commuting is on an urban e-bike. Better yet, admission is free if you want to visit an exhibition after your test ride.
Checkpoint Charlie
Distance: 2.6 Km
Riding time there: 10 min
Suggested Ampler: Stout
When the city was divided between the east and west there was one crossing point that’s still famous today: Checkpoint Charlie. Thankfully, while the Berlin Wall no longer stands, you can still ride through the ghost of its shadow down Friedrichstraße. An old guard station stands as a reminder and there’s usually an actor dressed up as an East German or US soldier. Friedrichstraße recently became a ‘no car zone’ so you’ll have the freedom to get a good feel of the bike.
Tempelhof
Distance: 1.5 Km
Riding time there: 7 min
Suggested Ampler: Axel
One of the first true tests of the Cold War happened between 1948 – 1949 when the Soviets blocked all access to the Allied-controlled areas of Berlin. Before the blockade was lifted the solution was to send planes of resources to the Tempelhof airfield. It’s no longer a functional airport but instead, a beloved public park where you can test the speed and handling of the bike as you take off down the old runways.
Brandenburger Tor
Distance: 3.9 Km
Riding time there: 14 min
Suggested Ampler: Curt
Perhaps Berlin’s most iconic landmark; you can cycle to Brandenburg Tor in just 15 minutes from our showroom. The gate was built in the late 1700s on order of Prussian King Frederick William II. Erected in celebration of defeating the Dutch Popular Unrest it stands on the original city gate site of Berlin. Relax, enjoy the views, and see how the bike is performing. However, as it’s so spectacular please be vigilant of time with this one.
Gleisdreieck Park
Distance: 450 m
Riding time there: 2 min
Suggested Ampler: Stellar
Gleisdreieck Park is a wonderful test ride area right next to the showroom. It has a level terrain built over a former shipping yard; making it perfect for gentle cycling. Gleisdreieck is also beautifully maintained with wide cycling lanes running along exercise areas, flat greens and a skate park. It even borders the Deutsche Techniker Museum. If you want somewhere that’s quiet, open, and quick to access – this is the perfect spot to test all elements of the bike.
Kottbusser Damm
Distance: 2.5 km
Riding time there: 9 min
Suggested Ampler: Stout
Kottbusser Damm is the boundary of Berlin’s three funkiest neighbourhoods: Kreuzberg, Neukölln and Friedrichshain. On sunny days you can find locals sunbathing by the canal, swathes of swans, and even the odd paddle boarder and kayaker on the water. The bridges Baerwaldbrücke and Admiralbrücke are surrounded by beautiful old apartment buildings, niche cafes and artisan shops. A mix between road and gravel makes this an excellent chance to see how Ampler feels on different terrains.
Viktoria Luise Platz
Distance: 2.7 km
Riding time there: 10 min
Suggested Ampler: Juna
A hidden gem of Berlin with a lot of history, this small park opened in 1910. It was named after the only daughter of Kaiser Wilhelm II. It’s located in Schöneberg next to the U-Bahn station of the same name, which was the first subway station in Berlin. The architect behind the park, Fritz Encke, designed it to blend perfectly with the entrance in a lavish and jubilant fashion. Enjoy a cycle around the fountain, admiring the ornaments and surrounding architecture. Feel like royalty on one of our European-designed, low-step e-bikes as you explore.
We’re just as proud of what surrounds our Berlin showroom as what’s inside. It’s extremely fortunate to be in such an accessible location in proximity to some of Berlin’s most iconic landmarks and fun cycling routes. Come see for yourself and book a test ride. Our team is ready to guide you around your potential new ride before you set you off on your maiden voyage.
